Case Study 1: HISTORY/Holocaust Project

The Holocaust Project at Tideway involves a visit and presentation by a Holocaust survivor (September 26th); a visit to Auschwitz by the school eModerators (October 21-24); a student visit to the Anne Frank House (November 17-19); an online conference with other schools (January 2007); a student workshop and dedication ceremony at Newhaven Fort (January 26th).

Fronter is integrated into this project with resource areas where students and teachers can access learning materials; message boards hosted by eModerators; onliine conference opportunities; online lessons.

This is the interface from the Holocaust Memorial Room on Fronter. Teaching staff and Year 10/11 students can enter this room, younger students cannot. The icons on the left of the screen are self-explanatory.

In July 2006 Billy (a Year 10 student) visited the Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London with our eModerators. His area on Fronter has video clips of interviews made in the museum; images from the museum that can be used in class by students; a link to the Museum website; as well as a message board where students can ask Billy and the eModerators about the exhibition. Year 10 students studying History GCSE will visit the Museum early in 2008 and use this area on Fronter to prepare for the visit.
