Digital Access Project

The project will pilot access to the school curriculum for parents and carers, using the school learning platform to deliver ‘anywhere-anytime’ learning.

It will target those families who have no or limited PC or Internet access.

Parents/carers will have access to the ICT/KS4 curriculum and a Level1/ECDL/Level 2 IT User Certificate (this is the core IT qualification at KS4 in Tideway).

The aim is that participants will gain an industry recognised qualification and at the same time gain/enhance the skills they need to support siblings with their learning.

The project will:

1) provide hardware and Internet home access;

2) employ and train part-time e-Moderators to support out-of-school-hours learning by parents/carers;

3) meet the costs of exam board entry.

Parents/carers will be provided with Netbooks and mobile Internet access.

Ex-students will be recruited and trained as e-Moderators to support online learning.

Access to the school curriculum will be enabled through the learning platform.
