Case Studies from across the Curriculum
From the drop down menu on this area you can access a number of case studies that show the ways in which the Learning Platform has been used across the curriculum in Tideway.
Be aware that use of the technology changes rapidly. Where one subject area has been using it effectively for a period of time, that may not be the case at this present moment due to (for example) staff changes.
We are also constantly finding new ways to use the platform. For example, the UK Youth Parliament elections have now finished and the results will be available in January 2007. It was only a chance conversation with our Head of PHSE that led to this particular online project.
Our Science Departmen is piloting online assessment on the platform with a Year 10 Triple Science group. One of the issues relating to this has been the lack of skills within the department to programme this assessment opportunity. Whilst our ICT Team have the skills to programme onscreen assessments, the Head of Science felt that the department would work more creatively and flexibly with a member of staff who had a science background. A Science classroom assistant has been trained to design assessment tasks on Fronter.
At work in Science.
In 2008 we have a number of priorities for developing use of our Learning Platform and these include:
- developing online INSET for staff.
- using ex students to offer online support.
- embedding platform use beyond ICT and Business Studies subject areas.
- migrating from Fronter to UniServity.
- a whole Year 11 cohort flexible learning project, using the platform over 6 weeks.
