Science Assessment
Online assessment using the Learning Platform has been piloted with a KS4 Triple Science Group. There are 25 students in the group, with a high percentage of gifted and talented.
The assessment tool allows for a range of styles and formats of questions, from multiple choice through to text input.
Multiple choice questions were used for this first assessment as this is the format that students will encounter in their final exam.
The assessment data produced by the system allows staff to:
- track who has completed what questions
- examine individual student performance
- identify patterns of answers and adapt
teaching
- identify underperformance in relation to
national targets and target support
The system is self-marking and gives stduents immediate feedback. Feedback can also be tailored and adapted by staff.
The assessment has been set up for Higher and Foundation tiers.
Students are allocated individually to test areas.
