Delivering online training for staff
In Term 1 and Term 2 of 2007 an online training course had been set up for members of the SLT. In 2008 the course is being offered to staff and PGCE students.
The aim of the course is:
1)Skills teaching; by the end of the course you will be able to set up an online classroom, create a front page for the room, add tools to it, allocate students, set up a discussion forum, upload and download files, create web links, design a collaborative document, an assessment test and set up hand-in / portfolio folders.
2)Pedagogy; by the end of the course you will have a better understanding of the differences between online and face-to-face teaching and learning.
Everything happens online. You can log in and take part when and where you want. It will probably take you no longer than half an hour a week in total to participate (honest!). There will be a maximum of 6 staff on each 4 week session.
